Clinical Research Training for Foreign Resident Physicians

This program is not a FRSQ award program per se. Rather, it is designed to recognize the awards granted by host institutions, and in that sense, it supports the training of foreign resident clinician-researchers who are pursuing clinical and research training in FRSQ research centres.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Eligible applicants

-Non-Canadian physicians with a temporary license to practise, valid for the duration of the training period

Terms and conditions

-Must devote 50% of the time to research activities

The research may extend over the entire year or be concentrated within a 6-month period.

-Must submit a properly structured research project that complements, if possible, the applicant’s clinical activities

-Must be supervised by an independent investigator (as defined in the Common Rules and Regulations, art. 1.2)

-Prior participation in research activities

-Presentations, abstracts and publications

Scientific quality and interest of research project

-Clarity of objectives

-Relevance of methodology

-Originality of project and contribution to the advancement of knowledge

Quality of training environment

-Quality of supervisor's publication record

-Quality of supervisor's student training record

-Justification of the choice of training location and relevance of that environment to the planned career path

Criteria

Renewal application

Research project’s state of advancement

-Advancement with respect to methodology and discipline

-Justification for renewal and potential for successful outcome

-Research supervisor's evaluation

-Publications

-Abstracts and presentations (meetings, symposia, seminars, etc.)

AWARDEE'S AGREEMENT

 

The awardee agrees to devote 50% of his/her time to research activities and to observe the Common Rules and Regulations, as well as the terms and conditions stipulated in this Program Description.

SUPERVISOR'S AGREEMENT

 

The research supervisor agrees to oversee the awardee’s work and to provide the material and financial resources required for the research project.
