-Canadian Common CV (full CV) duly completed by the Québec scientist (Stream 1) or Québec team leader (Stream 2)

-Duly completed application form

The application must be submitted simultaneously to AATRM by the Catalan scientist or team leader and the FRSQ by the Québec scientist or team leader, using the appropriate agency form.

The form must include the research project title in French.

Paper documents

The post office stamp or fax transmission date is proof of the document filing date.

-full CV duly completed by the Catalan scientist (Stream 1) or Catalan team leader (Stream 2)

Whether the application is for Stream 1 or 2, it must be submitted simultaneously to:

-AATRM, by the Catalan scientist (Stream 1) or team leader (Stream 2)

-FRSQ, by the Québec scientist (Stream 1) or team leader (Stream 2)

Documents

-Certified copies of award notices received during the past four years

Applicants need not include proof of FRSQ grants and awards.

Two-part program

This program has two streams:

Stream 1 - Joint project development work sessions

Stream 2 - Joint research project delivery

Priority fields

Streams 1 and 2

The fields listed here are considered priorities for both streams:

-oncology

-cardiovascular sytem

-neurosciences

-International public health

-AIDS

-organ transplantation

-clinical investigation

Stream 1

Objectives

Joint Project Development Work Sessions enable Québec and Catalan scientists to develop joint research programs and prepare project funding applications for national and international granting organizations.

The teams receiving funding through Stream 1 will have priority for Stream 2 grants in future.

Stream 2

Objectives

Joint Research Project Delivery fosters cooperation between the teams of independent Québec and Catalan investigators for joint research projects in the priority fields mentioned above.

It gives Québec scientists and their team, including master's, doctoral and postdoctoral students, the opportunity to pursue research in any Catalan research laboratory.

Streams 1 and 2

Competition open to Independent investigators who are:

-Canadian citizens or permanent residents (permanent resident card)

-domiciled in Québec

-working in health research in Québec

-involved, to the FRSQ's satisfaction, in a research project with a Catalan research team (Stream 2 only)

The stays are from one week to two months.

The grant covers:

-return transportation for the Québec scientist

-daily living allowance for the Québec scientist

Stream 2

The grant covers:

-return transportation for Québec team

-daily living allowance for each mission (Québec-Catalonia for senior investigator and the team's other scientists, including master's, doctoral and postdoctoral students).

Process

Joint evaluation of applications by AATRM and the FRSQ.

Criteria

Stream 1

Teams:

-Quality of research track record of Québec and Catalan scientists

-Complementarity of scientists' methodologies, subject-specific competencies and added value of the collaboration

Budget:

-Realistic number and duration of missions applied for

Stream 2

Teams:

-Quality of research track record of Québec and Catalan teams

-Complementarity of teams' methodologies, subject-specific competencies and added value of the collaboration

-Benefits from existing scientific collaboration, if applicable

Research projects:

-Scientific merit of joint project and potential benefits

-Identification of funding source for carrying out the project

Budget:

-Justification for each mission

-Realistic number and duration of missions applied for
